(1930-2002) is a Danish writer whose first collection of poems was published in 1954
and followed by many poetry collections and other books, including translations
into Danish from French, Italian, and Spanish—Gustave Flaubert, Samuel Beckett,
Claude Simon, Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Fuentes, and others.
“Seeds” is from his seventh poetry collection, Now and now
(Nu og nu), Gyldendal Publishers, 1978. (Translation with the kind permission
of Thomas Harder and Andreas Harder.)
has published thirty books (novels, story and essay collections, and literary
criticism) and translated the work of many Danish writers into American, including
Dan Turèll, Henrik Nordbrandt, Pia Tafdrup, Susanne Jorn, Kristian Bang Foss,
Martin Glaz Serup, Line-Maria Lång, and others.
