Darrell Black

is an American visual artist who lives, draws, and paints in Frankfurt, Germany, where he’s a member of the Veteran Artist Program abroad (EuroVAP). Born in 1964 in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Far Rockaway, New York. In 1982, he joined the National Guard, and then, in 1988, the U.S. Army, for which he served four years of duty. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix.

In April 2001, Black was nominated by the German government as a “candidate of the year’s prize for promising young artists” for his artwork entitled The Invasion, which appeared in the exhibition The Zeppelin in Art, Design, and Advertisement shown at the Frankfurt International Airport in late spring, 2000. His artwork has appeared in local, national, and international group exhibitions; is permanently displayed in a number of art galleries, museums, and other institutions in America and Germany; and has been displayed in Veteran Art Shows including one at the Intel Corporation in 2014.
